Reading Graphs

In math this week we will be learning about reading graphs as well as reviewing how to find the mean of a set of numbers.  Remember that the mean is the same as the average.  How do you find average/mean?  Find the sum of the numbers in the set and then divide that total by the number of addends that you added together.

Want to have some fun???  CLICK HERE HERE, and HERE to play some graphing games. They will help prepare you for our math assessment next week :)

Now CLICK HERE to play a game using mode, median, and mean.

Now enjoy the song!!!

Summarizing

Remember that when you summarize, you just stick to the "heart" of the matter.  You break down larger ideas into smaller chunks.  A summary is written in your own words and conveys the main idea of the text.

In class we learned that we can use a graphic organizer using the words: Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then to help us write our summaries.  Graphic organizers are GREAT learning tools!  We should use them in all of our writing!

Here is a short video clip on summarizing.  Enjoy!  Oh, and before I forget. . .CLICK HERE to listen to the summarizing song.
