FRIDAY! 5.2 Quiz

Here is what is on the agenda for this lovely Friday! :)  Do each of the following in the order listed below.  Good luck and have FUN learning.

2.  UTIPS- Username is your lunch #.  Password is your last name with a capital letter.

Cracker Dichotomous Keys

Today we will be creating dichotomous keys using crackers.  When you are finished with your dichotomous key and you have had your shoulder partner check it to see if it makes sense, then you are welcome to enjoy your crackers as a snack :)

On the back of your paper you need to fill out the reptile taxonomy of a gecko, crocodile, tortoise, and a cobra.  Use the links below to help you.

3. Finish your Classification WebQuest - Don't forget to complete the dichotomous key on the back page.  Hand it in when you are finished.

4.  Check PowerSchool for missing assignments.  Complete anything you are missing.  Is your 5.1 Vocabulary completed and turned in?  If not, you are currently NOT passing Science! :(

Classification WebQuest

Dichotomous Keys

Today we will be learning about Dichotomous Keys.  What is a dichotomous key?  How do you read a dichotomous key?  How do you make a dichotomous key?

IMPORTANT!!!  When you are done with the videos, on your Bell Work Exit Ticket write 3 important facts about how to read a dichotomous key and write the steps you follow for making a dichotomous key.  I will check your answers when you hand in your Bell Work on Friday.

After you are done watching the videos on dichotomous keys and have written the information you learned on your Bell Work Exit Ticket, make sure and complete the smiley face dichotomous key on your paper and the complete the textbook review questions on the backside of the smiley face dichotomous key.

This assignment is due tomorrow at the beginning of class.

Is it Alive???

Living, Non-Living, Once Living.  What is the difference?

Watch THIS VIDEO about living things and what it means to be alive.  Answer the questions on THIS worksheet as you watch the video.

Today we will be doing a group activity where you will make a chart categorizing whether the list of items you have are alive, never alive, or once alive.  It may be harder than you think!

5.1 Notes: Living, Non-Living, Once Living

What is the difference between something that is alive?  Was once a live?  Or was never alive? Today in class we discussed the differences between these three things.  You will want to make sure you understand the differences for our test.  Sometimes it isn't quite as easy as you think!  Certain things can be a little bit tricky.

Standard 5.1 Vocabulary: Classification Systems

Here's what is on the agenda for today:

1.  New Seating Chart
2.  Check Power School for missing assignments.  Write down ANY assignments you are missing on your Bell Work paper for today.  If you are not missing any, just write none.
3.  If you haven't already, then make sure and register for your REACH classes.

Report cards come out on Friday.  Make sure you have everything turned in by Wednesday.  I cannot accept any late work after Wednesday of this week.

Test TOMORROW! (Tuesday)

Did you get above a 29 on the Practice Test??? If not, you need to retake it before tomorrow. Good luck!!!

 If/when you are done with the Practice Test, make sure you are done with the following:

1.  UTIPS Standard 4 Practice Test Login: Lunch #  Password: Last Name
     ONLY RETAKE IF YOU SCORED BELOW A 29 :)
2.  Watch the Fruit Fly Cancer Research Video and then fill out THIS response sheet.
3.  Watch the Eyes of Nye video about Genetically Modified Foods and then fill out THIS response sheet.
4.  When you are done with 1-4 start working on Standard 4 Review.  It will be due on TOMORROW.
